Get Funding For Your Start Up Projects

By the time you read this, more than 40,000 people will have pledged over $5.1 million to help finance the Ouya project on Kickstarter. Ouya’s own goal is only $950,000. However, the pledge total will most likely get a lot more before the crowdfunding campaign closes after 20 days.

What is Ouya anyway? Ouya is a new open source game console for the TV, powered by a modified version of Android 4.0. A “free to play” model will be employed, every game will be free to play, and some games might offer paid versions which provides additional game items, upgrades or advanced features. Interested to get one? Now you can get your own Ouya when you pledge $99 or more. This popular pledge option “Pledge $99 or more” is limited, only 46150 left.

After reading this, do you want to get creative and try your luck on Kickstarter? Remember though, starting a project is free. If a project is successfully funded, Kickstarter will apply a 5% fee to the funds raised. If it isn’t successful, there is no charge. It all sounds ok right? Unfortunately, not everyone can apply, only US residents are eligible for this program. Don’t get too disappointed yet. There are other international funding platforms that work just like Kickstarter. For example, take a look at indiegogo.

Indiegogo is a global funding platform with campaigns running in over 200 countries. It’s completely free to start or contribute to a campaign. There are two funding types. You can choose Flexible Funding and keep the money you raise, regardless of whether you meet the goal. Or you can choose Fixed Funding, which refunds the money back to your contributors if you don’t meet your goal. Indiegogo will charge 4% of the money you raised if you meet your goal or 9% if you do not meet your goal.
